Description of Work:
The project includes the rehabilitation of the existing concrete slab bridge. The proposed rehabilitation will include replacing the existing concrete slab unit superstructure with a prestressed concrete slab. This project raises the bridge low chord to meet the 2’-0” minimum freeboard requirement for the 50 year storm and passes the 100 year storm. The proposed rehabilitation will also include substructure repairs, installing a waterproofing membrane, replacing the existing bridge and approach railing to meet current standards and approximately 50 feet of milling and paving at each approach. The proposed bridge has a span length of 24’-0” and an out to out width of 36’-6”.

All work to be completed within the existing highway right-of-way.
Utilities:
There are underground gas lines, water lines and storm drains located within the project limits. The underground utilities will not be affected. There are overhead electric, telephone, cable and high voltage electric lines within the project limits. There is ongoing coordination with the New York Power Authority regarding the high voltage electric lines. There are no anticipated effects to the overhead utilities.
Work Zone Traffic Control:
The bridge will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic and an offsite detour will be utilized during construction. The duration of this closure is expected to be approximately three (3) to five (5) months. The offsite detour route would utilize Lakeshore Rd, Cicero Center Rd, and NYS Route 31. The detour length is 3 miles and approximately 5 minutes of additional travel time.
